Audrey,
You turned 4 months old yesterday and it seems like I can barely remember a time when you were not in our lives. You are almost always a very happy girl. You wake up smiling and talking and cooing most mornings and that is such a breath of fresh air in the mornings! You rolled over for the first time on Saturday. You were having some tummy time in the living room floor and just rolled over all of a sudden. I think it kinda freaked you out at first but you did it! Now you spend all your tummy time trying to roll over again and get very frustrated when you can't. You love playing peekaboo and This Little Piggy and watching your brother. You seem to always have some type of fabric in your hand or in your mouth. You hang onto the clothes of whoever is holding you like you're holding on for dear life. If no one is holding you, you grab a handfull of your own clothing or your bib or your satiny blanket from Nana or the crinkly taggy toy Mama made for you. It has been a joy to watch you over the past 4 months. You bring so much happiness into our lives!
Love you!
Mama

Easton is getting funnier and funnier every day. He has such an imagination! This week he told me "Bear tooted". Where in the world does he get this stuff? Lately everything he hears is "noisy" or "loud", even if it's not. And last night while I was drying him after his bath and getting him into his pajamas he had this conversation with his bear:
Hi Bear.
How 'doing Bear?
Sleepy Bear?
Dark Bear.
Don't pee Bear!
Get you Bear!
Love you Bear.
I love hearing him talk more and can't wait to see what he'll come up with next.
We're getting ready to re-do his room for his birthday. Easton really doesn't need anything at all for his birthday but if anyone would like to get him something for his new big boy room (toddler bed instead of crib), we created a list on Target.com. Just go to http://www.target.com/, click Registries + Lists at the top and search for Easton's name.

I finally got to do more today than clean and take care of my little ones. I've been wanting to finish some beanbags I started making months ago for Easton. All I had to do was finish the edges and I was finished! When the kids were sleeping today, I finally got the chance. It took me less than 10 minutes to do all 12. When he got up from nap he was really excited to play with them. He had fun putting them in and dumping them out of a big plastic see-through container. I'll try to get a picture of him and his new (cheap!) toys soon.
I also made a little something for Audrey. I am a regular reader of a site called "Dollar Store Crafts". Today I made a crinkly baby toy for Audrey and I'm really pleased with how it came out. I recycled a crinkly baby wipes wrapper and used up some fabric and ribbon I had in my craft stash. I can't sew a straight line for anything but I think that will get better with practice. And who better to practice on than my kiddos, right? My camera battery needs to be charged so I'll have to get a pic another day.
Click here for baby toy instructions. Hmmm...now that's an idea for a cheap and easy baby gift!
It felt so good to finally be able to work on something fun! This site is called "crafty" little devil for a reason but unfortunately this mama has had no time lately for anything other than diapers and cleaning and homework. Hooray for naptime for both babies at the same time!

There are three dates in history I will always remember.
April 19, 1995 - The Oklahoma City bombing.
May 3rd, 1999 - tornadoes in and around OKC. I will never forget the green sky that turned to black as night fell, hiding in my closet with my terrified catin her carrier and praying for my family in OKC.
September 11, 2001 - World Trade Center attacks
Where were you 9-11-01? I was at work for Dr. Jones. We had a teeny tiny tv on in the waiting room and happened to have it on Good Morning America. I remember watching that tv for hours that day. Work? No one worked in that office that day. We were all glued to the television watching the news as more and more horrible tragedies occurred, hoping and praying that more people would make it out alive. Dr. Jones went out and bought a bigger tv on our lunch break so we could see it better. I will never forget that day. Why is it only that we remember that on the anniversary of 9-11? I will never forget.
I can't believe it's been eight years since the 9-11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Eight years! Why is there still no monument or building at ground zero?
As Glenn Beck said today:
Are you telling me that eight years is too little time, in America today, to construct a high-rise building? Is this the really the best we can do?
When we built the Empire State Building, construction began on March 17, 1930. After 57,000 tons of steel, 3,400 workers and just 400 days, it opened on May 1, 1931.
The Hoover Dam, a 1,200-foot long and 700-foot tall concrete dam in the middle of nowhere, was started in 1931 and finished just five years later. Over 100 people died building it.
When Americans want to do something, we find a way to get it done. It's who we are or at least it's who we were.
These two events happened in the 1930s; do we have less imagination now? Do we have less technology than we did in 1930? Less spirit or drive?
We've been waiting eight years now for the new Freedom tower and we still have a hole in the ground. Four hundred days to build the Empire State Building and 2,920 days to have this?
Why?
I believe if it were up to you or me, the Freedom Tower would have been done years ago and it would be towers — not tower — because we would have built both of them the way they were before, except they would have been better and stronger and my guess is they would have been 25 stories taller. And have a big, fat "come and try that again" sign on top. We would have built it with our bare hands if we had to because that's what Americans do. We fail or we face a crisis and we make things better.
Anybody besides me feel that deserves an Amen?

I am too old for this stuff. Last night we stayed up WAAAY late playing games with our friends. Man, it was really fun but I sure paid for it today! I felt hungover all day long and the only thing I had to drink was water! I usually start feeling achy all over and like I'm coming down with the flu when I don't get enough sleep. And headache! Wow! I had a headache today. And tonight I've been on the computer checking my email and on facebook and I looked up and it's 1:15 am already. Seriously...I'm too old for this and the kids will probably be up with the sun. Oh my. Looks like I'm gonna need a LOT of coffee tomorrow! :) We sure are having a great weekend though! Game night yesterday, took a walk w/the entire family today, cooked steaks on the grill and watched a movie w/my sweetie after the kids were in bed. Jason's off work tomorrow and I'm really glad we have an extra day together to finish getting the house cleaned up, work out in the yard, rest and just hang out. Gotta love three day weekends! Happy Labor Day!
P.S. Gotta Google Labor Day now. Don't know why we celebrate it or how it got it's name but I love it because Jason is off work an extra day. :)

Goodnight you moonlight ladies
Rockabye sweet Easton James
Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose
Wont you let me go down in my dreams
And rockabye sweet Easton James
(My apologies to James Taylor for stealing his song to sing to my not-so-little-man.)
Easton,
You are growing up so fast! I am glad that (for now) you still let me rock and sing to you. You make your mama so happy!
I love you, sweet boy!
Love,
Mama

These days are just flying by in a blur. We're all doing great though. Just staying busy. Jason is working a lot getting ready for the big labor day mattress sales. I just finished one class (I got an A!) and starting a new one today (Nutrition).
Easton is getting bigger and sometimes acting very "two". He's getting some new teeth and that makes him a little cranky these days. Mostly he's just chock full of energy though. I really need to make sure I take him outside more but since Miss Audrey hates her carseat, that makes going for a walk really difficult.
Speaking of Audrey, she weighs 13 lbs now and is getting closer to crawling every day. She still hates tummy time so I'm sure it will be a while yet but she can scoot herself while laying on her back so at least I know her legs are strong enough.
That's about it for us. Just staying super busy. I'm proud of myself for starting to buy Christmas presents already this year. I'm going to try to bring them when we come for Thanksgiving instead of trying to mail them. We'll see if that works out or not. Our little car is going to be crammed full as it is with packing for 4 people for 10 days. Thankfully everywhere we're staying will have a washer and dryer so we don't have to pack so many clothes.
We're really looking forward to coming home at Thanksgiving. Not necessarily looking forward to the 20+ hour drive there but it will be worth it. Just pray that Audrey learns to love (or at least tolerate) her carseat by then or we may be in for it.
Love and miss everyone back home and can't wait to see you in November!
Easton,
Oh my heavens, I cannot keep up with you these days! I swear in the course of one day you have climbed onto the dining room table 3 or 4 times, emptied out the basket of spoons in the drawer, cleaned out my junk drawer, brought out every single book from your room and left them in a pile in the living room, climbed up onto the desk and sat on the keyboard, climbed into my comfy chair and turned your sister's swing off and on about a million times and dug in the trash approximately 357,687,324,687 times. We need to get a swingset for you so you can burn off some of this energy, little one!
You are now putting words into sentences. One day you emptied out your diaper bag in the back seat of the car and found a container of cookies. You handed it to me and said "Have some?" How could I say no to that? That may be one of the few times I could not say no to cookies before dinner.
This past weekend, we went to the fair with Katy and Jake. You had a corn dog, french fries and a funnel cake, rode the carosel with Mama, rode the trucks with Daddy and saw cows, chickens, sheep, horses, rabbits, pigs and a camel. I think it's safe to say you had a really fun time.
You are still my sunny, funny boy and I am so lucky to have the chance to be your mama. I love you, Toodles!
Love,
Mama
Audrey,
You are three months old and are such a little sweetie! Your smile lights up your whole entire face and you smile often and at everybody. My favorite time of the day is first thing in the morning when I go into your room and you see me for the first time. Your little face lights up and you start wiggling and kicking your little feet just as fast as you can as if to say "Hi, Mama! Thanks for coming in to see me this morning!"
You love to blow bubbles, look at your brother and "talk" to him. You hate tummy time, sleeping without Mama or Daddy holding you and your carseat. That last one, I REALLY wish you'd get over because lordy, sometimes I really just need to be able to put you in your carseat and go somewhere. Several times you have screamed the entire drive from Winchester to our house (20 mins or so). NOT fun! And certainly makes me a little worried about trying to drive to Oklahoma in November. Please please PLEASE grow out of this phase quickly, OK?
I love you, Tootsie!
Love,
Mama
