I took these pictures in to show the kids in my class and they thought it was pretty cool. One of them said it looks like an alien. You know that's what I've always thought ultrasound pictures look like too. :)

All in favor of a 3 day weekend every weekend raise your hand. Man, we had so much stuff to do this weekend and we only got about 1/2 of it done. Friday night, we shopped and shopped and shopped. We did our big monthly Costco and Walmart shopping trip and got some stuff for the house that we needed. We were both worn out when we got home late that night.
Saturday we slept late and then went to a friend's daughter's first birthday party. It was fun. After that, we drove to Harrisonburg to pick up tickets to a concert we want to go to. Cross Canadian Ragweed is playing at the Pub (a college bar outside James Madison University) on June 7th. We've seen them once before at the Pub and the concert was sold out last time and the place was packed. Wish it wasn't a week night and wasn't 2 hours from my house, but Amy and Cyrus and my friend Katy from work are going with Jason and I so it should be a fun time. After picking up the tickets, we went to Lowes and bought some more flowers (clematis and mandevilla) for the yard and some other misc. yard stuff.
Sunday we got up early and got busy cleaning and organizing. I put away a lot of winter clothes and the spring and summer clothes I can't fit into anymore. I washed and put away all the maternity clothes I've been given. That made me have about 4 extra loads of laundry to do! After getting the closet organized and the laundry baskets of clothes put away, our room looks so nice! We do need to find a dresser though. We've got one little 4 drawer dresser that is so full it's practically bursting at the seams. I'd like to find an old one that I could paint to match the other furniture in our bedroom but so far I haven't really found one in my price range. (I'm CHEAP!) Maybe I'll find one when we go home in July and can add it to the furniture we're hauling back to WV with us. I am NOT looking forward to that 2 day drive but I can't wait to go home! Wish we could spend more time there but I'll settle for even a quick trip at this point. November was WAY too long ago!
Today we didn't really do too much. We did make our 2nd trip of the weekend to Lowes to buy some more plants (blue salvia and pink mini petunias) for some bare spots in our yard and some paint. We finally decided on a light blue paint for the nursery called Airy, a pale purple-ish grey color for the guest room called Fainting Violet and a tan color called Cake Batter for 3 walls in our room. The other wall we'll paint a dark brown color we have called Mudslide. Now we just need about a week off to get all the organizing and painting done around here. :)
One of these days I'll actually get my camera batteries charged and take some pictures. It's been way too long.

Don't go out and buy pink or blue just yet...baby wasn't cooperating or maybe just wasn't old enough for the tech to determine whether we're having a boy or a girl. But my due date looks to be the same as we originally were told (November 3rd) and everything looks good. It was really amazing to be able to see our baby in so much detail! He (or she) even had its hand up by its face most of the time and we saw the fingers moving like it was waving to us. Pretty cool! We got to see the heartbeat and spine and everything looks to be exactly on target as far as baby's size. They gave us pictures of the ultrasound and even a videotape of some of it so I'm sure we will be showing that off to anyone who's interested.
I go back for a check up with the dr on June 18th and another ultrasound on June 29th. They originally wanted me to come in on July 2nd but that's when we'll be IN OKLAHOMA! (yay!) so I asked if we could schedule it for Friday June 29th. We can't wait to see the baby again.
I was pleasantly surprised to find I had only gained 3 lbs since my last appt. That's a total of only 6 or 7 total, so that's not too much so far. Goodness knows I haven't been eating like I should, so I was a little worried this time. I'm doing well at balancing my junky eating with some actual vegetables though, which is more than I can say for myself before getting pregnant. Before it was usually a long time of all healthy eating followed by a long time of all junky eating and repeat over and over and over. Now it's pretty balanced and I'm starting to feel more energetic (sometimes) so J and I have started walking after work. Hopefully that helps me have more energy during the day.
Everyone keeps asking if I'm having any weird pregnancy cravings and overall I'd have to say I crave only one thing...anything icy cold. Popsicles (sp?), slushes, snowcones, shaved ice, ice cream, Italian ice, ice cubes, ANYTHING freezing cold. It's not even so much the flavor of whatever it is I happen to choose, it's the coldness.
On my lunch break today I had to drive all the way down to get an Italian ice because what I really was craving was a snowcone but there is NO PLACE here to get one! Nowhere. In the whole entire town or surrounding area. Drives me crazy. And to make matters worse we don't even have a Sonic to get a slush. :( And tonight after work I had three (3!) Pop-Ice popsicles. Good thing they're only 25 calories a piece and very cheap or else it would be a long 5 more months! Geez, if it's this bad in the spring...just think about how bad this "craving" will be in the summer!

Ultrasound appointment is a week from tomorrow!
MAY 21st and we can't wait! We'll keep you posted.
Happy Mother's Day...to me? That still sounds weird! :) J and I had a great day today. We got up and finally went to church like we've been saying we need to do since we moved here. We went to my friend Jessica's church and it was really nice. Very different from what J and I are used to but we liked it. We probably will try another church next week and try out several before we decide on one. It will most likely take a while (and way more than just one visit) to find one we call home but at least we're going.
After church we went to lunch with Jessica, her husband Brett and their gorgeous daughter Olivia. We went to Olive Garden but the wait there was 2-3 HOURS! No way! We knew with it being Mother's Day that it would be busy but that is RIDICULOUS! We went to Quiznos instead. (It was right behind Olive Garden in the same shopping complex.) Then Jessica, Olivia and I walked over to Ross to do some bargain shopping and the guys checked out Circuit City. It was a fun day.
After we shopped, we said goodbye to our new friends and headed home. Of course with the weather being so beautiful today, we had to stop for ice cream. (Hey...it was totally J's idea today. Not some crazy pregnancy craving.) We both got sundaes. I got raspberry and J got peanut butter. Then it was home for me to take a nap and J to mow the lawn. It was a nice relaxing day.
OK, so that I am held accountable, I am writing down topics I don't want to forget to post about. Coming some time this week (I hope!) look for posts about our 3 year anniversary, J's fishing trip, and the Green Valley Book Fair.
Happy Mother's Day to my mom and all the moms that read this. Hope your day was special.

Last night we went to the Apple Blossom Country Music Dance and heard Trent Tomlinson and Keith Anderson. It was a pretty fun night. We met up with our friend Amy and her boyfriend and 4 of their friends. Somehow someone thought it would be a great idea if every time someone made a joke about me being forced to be the designated driver that everyone else had to take a drink. Let me tell you, there were many, MANY jokes about that and by the end of the night it got really old. :) The concert was great. Trent Tomlinson sang even though he didn't have much of a voice. I thought it was great that he went on anyway instead of just cancelling. The music was so loud that you really couldn't hear his voice anyway and with almost everyone there drinking, I doubt many would have noticed how he sounded if he hadn't made an announcement. Keith Anderson was AWESOME! Jason wore his OSU hat because Keith graduated from there and at the end of the concert he signed autographs for the few of us lucky enough to be in the first few rows. He gave Jason a big yell when he saw what his hat said. J threw it up onstage for him to sign and he signed it "Hell Yeah!!! Keith Anderson". Pretty cool. It was a fun time. At the end of the night, we all crammed into my car and I drove everyone home. We looked like a clown car driving down the road. Probably not too safe, but better than the alternative. Now we have to get J a new OSU hat. Actually...come to think of it...Hey! That was MY OSU HAT! :)

OK, OK I stand corrected. I DO keep saying my next appt is April 21st. It's actually MAY 21st and we can't wait to hopefully find out what color to paint the nursery. I'll let you know.
I didn't post after my last dr's appt and boy have I heard about it! :) (Not that I mind.)
We did get to hear the baby's heartbeat on Monday and the dr said everything looks and sounds good. Other than that, this was a pretty uneventful dr's visit. Hearing the heartbeat was really special, but the dr we saw this time has zero bedside manner and left us feeling like "Huh? That's it?!" Let's hope he's not the one on call when I go into labor. While I understand that for him this is no big deal and he probably does it 50 times a day, he still could have made it a little more special, you know? He barely let me get the answer to his questions out before he was on to the next thing on his list of things to do. I did not like him a bit. Thankfully there are 3 or 4 other drs in his practice and that lessens the chance of Dr. No-Bedside-Manner actually delivering my baby. I'm sure this next appt will be much more fun, since we actually get to see the baby. Here's hoping he or she isn't camera shy! April 21st is the big day.
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Go have a margarita for me.
