Tonight I'm making a Butterscotch Cake for a friend at work who is having a birthday. Anybody ever had butterscotch cake? I haven't but I think it will be pretty good. It is in the oven and it is making my house smell SO amazing right now! I'll let you know how it turns out.

Butterscotch Cake

1 box white cake mix, dry
1 small box butterscotch instant pudding, dry
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 egg whites

Preheat oven to 350. Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl for 2 minutes or until well mixed. Bake in a bundt pan for 50 to 60 minutes or until it passes the toothpick test. Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar or topped with Cool Whip and butterscotch chips.

I was looking online tonight for some jokes that I could tell in our office. I work in an orthodontic office and I told a few jokes last week to some of our patients and thought it would be fun to learn some more kid-friendly jokes.

Here are a few I learned and a few my dad told me when I was little:

What do you call a cow with no legs?
Ground beef.

What do you call a fly with no wings?
A walk.

What do you kill a walk with?
A walk-swatter.

What do you call a frog that can cook?
Betty Croaker.

What do you call a fish with no eye?
A fsh.

What was the pirate movie rated?
ARRRgh!

What's in the middle of a jellyfish?
A jellybutton.

What do you call a pig with three eyes?
A piiig.

Anybody have any more kid-friendly jokes I can use?

Oooh...two posts in one day. Think you can handle it? :) This one's a sappy one. Don't say I didn't warn you.

It is fun to live with my husband. Why? He's the only one I know who is as silly as I am. In the past week he has:

Done a funny little dance to the alarm his cell phone was playing one morning.

Tried to convince me he could be the next American Idol by singing very badly (on purpose) in the car.

Danced with me in the kitchen as I was cooking dinner. We both dance horribly.

Taken just as many pictures of our cats doing cute things as I did.

Talked far more baby talk to the cats. I never do that. (Yeah right.)

That's all I can remember right now, but I'm sure there is more. He's a pretty fun guy to be around. And smart and handsome too! Aren't I lucky?

OK, enough mushiness. Gotta go watch OU beat up on Texas. Never thought I'd root for the Sooners. :)

I miss a lot of things about living in Oklahoma but lately I've been missing one thing above all else. (NOT including people, of course.) Cappuccino Chunky Chocolate ice cream from Braum's. I have no idea why all of a sudden I'm craving this. (Before anyone asks...NO, I'm not pregnant.) I don't even eat ice cream that much. I guess just knowing I can't have it makes me want it even more.

I've tried to find something even remotely similar around here but haven't had too much luck. I tried Baskin Robbins. UGH! Normally, I would have gotten a scoop of my favorite Daquiri Ice, but they were out so I settled for their version of my favorite Braum's stuff. Not even close!

I had just about given up on finding a good substitute until I was grocery shopping at Food Lion today. They were having a sale on ice cream and I thought I'd check it out. I came across Edy's Light Ice Cream in coffee flavor. Hmmm...that sounded promising. So tonight, while watching the OU basketball game, we decided to give it a try. I used my handy dandy little Pampered Chef Crinkle Cutter to chop up some leftover Christmas candy (Hershey's Milk and Dark Chocolate mini bars to be exact) and added them to the bowl. Of course I also used my Pampered Chef Ice Cream dipper (Shameless product endorsement, yes, but I am a consultant after all).

The result? VERY GOOD! I'd feel disloyal if I said it was as good as Braum's, but it was a darned good substitute, I can tell you that! And it's LIGHT, too! Of course I don't think it's still considered "light" if you eat about a fourth of the container AND add chopped up chocolate to it. :) Guess I may have to hit the treadmill later.

No, I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth or completely given up on having a blog (although my Internet friends must think otherwise). I've been having a lot of trouble with my eyes lately and staring at the computer screen really makes it worse.
I don't know how many of you know that for the last 6 years, I've been dealing with a strange eye condition that causes me to have very blurry vision and clouds of "floaters" in both eyes. When I look at something, depending on the light and what type of day it is, sometimes I can only see a vague outline of the object or sometimes I see the object but with lots of floating dots in front of it. I've been to several eye doctors, including retina specialists. I've had all kinds of tests, drops, and even once an injection in my eye (OUCH!) and no one has been able to tell me what exactly causes this or be able to offer me any relief from this problem. So, I'm not on the computer much. On good days, I do get online and check my email and maybe I'll even try to post online. I have so many things to talk about and miss blogging...hmm, maybe I need a secretary. Ha!ha!

Briefly, what's been going on at our house:

Christmas was great. Very relaxing and I think since this is the 2nd Christmas we didn't get to go home for, we were pretty much OK with the fact that we wouldn't be attending our family's respective Christmas celebrations. We cooked a turkey and all the fixin's and had a very relaxing time. We played poker, watched movies, and just generally hung out together. It was nice. I got a Sunbeam stand mixer, a jewelry armoire and some sweaters and CDs. Mr. Crafty had a Craftsman Christmas this year. He got a creeper, a shop vac, a torque wrench;, and a halogen light on a stand.

We also had a fun New Year's. We stayed home this year, played Sequence, had some champagne and brownies and were in bed by 1.

As for our house, we have been making a lot of improvements lately. We received some money and some gift cards this year from several people, so we decided to spend that extra money on our house. We got some new, much needed file cabinets, 2 cool barstools, some paint and accessories for our main bathroom, and some shelves, baskets and totes to organize our stuff. So far, we've organized 2 of our closets and have 2 left to go. We have been busy! But our house desperately needed some work and we are having fun doing it.

I may not post much, but I'd love to hear from you! Drop me an email and let me know how you're doing. (I do read my favorite blogs when I'm online.)

Take care! :) Amy

P.S. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention one of the coolest gifts I got this year! I got a personalized license plate from my sister. See the header of this blog? The devil girl with pitchfork and the words Crafty Little Devil? Yeah, it is that on a license plate for the front of my car! I LOVE IT! She also sent me some great earrings (2 pairs), an Oklahoma themed charm bracelet (very cool), a picture frame, and some fun pink-striped toe socks. Yeah for cool presents in the mail! Thanks, B!
