Why am I sitting in my car reading a magazine on my lunch break when it is 40 degrees outside and drizzling rain? Because during what I'd hoped would be a peaceful lunch break with a People magazine, someone was reading entire articles over my shoulder. Yes, folks. Entire. Articles. And periodically leaning her head on my shoulder. Don't do this. This is a surefire way to tick me off. Just. Back. Off. NOW. Just don't do that. Ever again. Today just isn't the day.

First, I burned my bagel and had to make another one. Because of this, I got to work 5 minutes late. And at this job, I am never late. And to top it off, I am having the worst hair day of the entire year. Yes, I realize that we are only 87 days into the year 2005, but I am thoroughly convinced that this day will go down in history as my worst possible hair day. (Well, excluding the entire time period in elementary school when I had the perm. We'll just happily forget about that whole ugly episode.) Oh well. At least I am wearing a cute outfit today. Hopefully, the worst hair day on record will be at least somewhat offset by the cute hot pink sweater and long black skirt I have on. Oh, and the cute shoes. Gotta remember the cute shoes. :) (Yes, I know I am vain and silly, but this is my blog and that is truly the kind of day I'm having. Vain and silly.)

In other news, did the Easter bunny visit you this weekend? After feeling sorry for myself because I'm about 1,200 miles from my family and their usual holiday celebrations, the hubby and I had a talk. We decided that from here on out, EVERY holiday is a big deal. (And yes, birthdays and anniversaries were also stated to be holidays in our house too. Just to make sure.) No, I was not at all upset about not getting candy or any of the "stuff" that goes with Easter. It's not about that. I just wanted to make sure that as long as we can't be with our families on holidays, that we have some way to make those days special for us. Not just another day, you know? What is the next holiday? Mother's Day? I'd better be getting a card from the cat. :)

I think every weekend should be a 3 day weekend! That's it. I'm going in to work on Monday and requesting every single Friday off for the rest of the year.

Uh. Yeah right. I haven't even earned any vacation days yet. Nice idea, but I'll just have to keep dreaming. It sure sounded niced though, didn't it?

We don't have much of anything planned for the long weekend. It's rainy and cold here and I just REALLY wish it would warm up already! I have 2 new knee-length skirts that I'd love to wear to work. Also, yesterday I bought fabric and a pattern to make myself a new purse. Add that to the ever-growing list of projects I have yet to finish. Let's see I still have to finish a baby quilt for a friend (who's due any day now), make 2 skirts, and now the purse. Gotta get busy!

We really need to order our plane tickets and make hotel reservations for Jason's birthday trip to Chicago. We got our Cubs tickets in the mail this past week and we are both really looking forward to it.

Also, we talked to the mortgage company and they said the house is definitely ours. YAY! Can't wait for all the decorating to begin...and all the tax breaks next year.
Now we'll have a bigger place for me to have our friends over for dinner. Not like this cute but cramped little apartment we're in now.

Hope everyone's having a fun weekend! Happy Easter!

Had dinner w/the girls from work (and their spouses/boyfriends) tonight. This makes the 3rd week in a row. We all sit around, eat a lot, talk about work or whatever, and just generally have a lot of fun. I really look forward to our Thursday nights out. Tonight was St. Patrick's Day, so a couple of us had green beer. They had a group of bagpipists? bagpipers? bagpipe players come in and play and that was pretty cool. We all had a really good time.

Next week I am thinking of having them over to our house for dinner and poker. Should be fun. Most of us don't have to work the next day, so we can stay up a little later and not have to worry. I'll be sure to post here if I decide to do that. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Well, our company has come and gone. We all had a blast. I'm so glad we all got to be together again. We went to some Civil War battlegrounds, drove them all over the Northern Virginia area, went to D.C one day, ate out a lot, and just generally had a lot of fun. I think they will need a vacation from their vacation though. We ran their legs off while they were here! Hope they had as much fun as we did and I hope they come back to visit us some time.

That's about all for now. Nothing too exciting going on, now that our company is gone. Just back to the same old daily routine. :)

Well, I didn't get around to posting again this weekend, obviously. :)

Just a quick post to say an early "Happy Birthday" to my friend Kristin. I miss you girl! More than you know. Wish I was still in class with you and shopping on our breaks. Take care and have a happy day tomorrow.

Geez, I know I'm really getting old when I'm in my pajamas and falling asleep by 8:30. I remember when I was just getting ready to go out at this time. Dang responsibilities! (You know, like paying the rent, going to work, etc.) I don't remember signing up for this. Ha ha.

Looking forward to seeing my sister- and brother-in-law and nephew this weekend. And being off work on Monday. (THANK YOU!) I'll try to find some time to post again soon.

Wow, can't believe it's been so long since my last post. I've really got to start trying to post more regularly.

As for the big snow I mentioned in my last post, we got 6 inches. It was very pretty, but in my book there's a reason that the words "cold" and "snow" are four letter words. I can't wait for it to warm up!

I've been really good at working out before work this past week and I'm starting to see a big difference. I may get to go jeans shopping before too long to buy a smaller size. :)

Work continues to go well. I know I said I wouldn't blog much about work, for fear of getting dooced, but I'm not worried too much about that, because everything I would say about my work is good. I really enjoy working there and the people are great. The other two front desk girls and I (and our significant others) went out to dinner night before last and we all had a great time. It's a real bonus to actually enjoy working with your co-workers. In past jobs, I haven't always had that luxury.

Gotta run for now, going to run errands today and have to get busy. I'll post again this weekend, hopefully.
