Boy, it is really feeling more like WINTER than Fall here lately! I'm glad I get to wear my red wool coat but not at all glad that it's cold. That makes no sense but I do love that red coat. :) I'm freezing. We're supposed to get our first freeze tonight. Down to around 31!!! Holy cow, that's cold! My hands are like icicles as I'm trying to type this. I think I need some hot tea and a warm bath to warm up.
In other news, it's apple butter time around here. I've already made (and blogged about????) one batch of apple butter. I'm proud I (mostly) got over my fear of canning. All that hot water and glass and boiling apple butter...yikes!!! But I did it and it turned out great so I'm going to get together with two of my friends and make about a bushel's worth of apples into apple buttter. Should be an all day deal but I'm really looking forward to it.
I got an A in my Nutrition for Education class. I got the maximum amount of points on my final Power Poing presentation and got a 99% in the class! Do I wish I'd gotten that one extra point so I could have had 100? Heck, no! I was just thrilled to get what I did! Only 10 more classes to go til graduation!!! Hmmm...maybe I could get a new car for graduation! Our Malibu will be paid off around then and we DO need a bigger car now that we've got 2 little ones. What do you say, honey? :)
Today Easton decided to take the straw out of a cup of water he was drinking out of and play with it. He ended up scratching his eye with the straw. Now it's really red and irritated and he keeps blinking his eyes and rubbing at it. I'm easily grossed out about eye things because of all the gross eye stuff I've been through so I could barely look at it without feeling like I was gonna throw up. Poor baby! Audrey's got a check up tomorrow and I might call ahead and ask if the doctor can take a look at E's eye just to be safe.
Audrey's getting shots tomorrow. I HATE taking my kids to get shots!!! I made Jason go with me and hold Easton down one time just to see how awful it is. Not very nice of me I know but should I get to have all the fun? He was coming with me to the appointment already anyways so I just thought I'd share. You're welcome, honey. Now he knows why I am all teary-eyed when I come home from the doctor's appointments. Ugh! I hate that!
Today we did about 5 loads of laundry. Who knew it could take so stinkin long to fold a load of kid's clothes?!?!
That's about it for us. Nothing too exciting. Gotta get off of here and make some tea. I'm FREEZING!!!
(Santa, if you read my blog I could sure use some soft, fuzzy socks and a new pair of warm houseshoes, OK? All my fuzzy socks are really getting worn out and I had to trash my slippers because I'd worn a hole right through the bottom of both of them. Thanks! P.S. Sorry I didn't keep my house as clean as I wanted to but I'm sure with all those elves you understand, right?)

Good news about my finger. The urgent care doc was wrong and it looks like the fracture wasn't displaced at all. No surgery! They took another x-ray, mashed around on my finger a little (OUCH!), put my splint back on and said "See you in two weeks." But I'm still not supposed to do much with my right hand, so posts will be short and sweet. Thanks for thinking about me :)

Tomorrow is the big day. I have an appt w/the orthopedic surgeon at 8:45 to see what they are going to do about my broken finger. It's been a long 5 days (tomorrow makes 6) and I'm hoping for the no-surgery route, but by looking at my finger, I'm not too sure they can fix it without surgery. Then again, I'm no dr., so I guess we'll hope for the best and find out tomorrow. I have a meeting after work tomorrow, so U may not be able to post tomorrow night, but I'll try to post as soon as I can. Think good thoughts and pray they don't have to do surgery. :)

Yuck...I can feel my heartbeat in my broken finger. Sounds like the lyrics of a really bad song. This sucks. But the wine and painkillers make me feel quite lovely.
Don't worry. I only had one glass. And I've been waiting 3 whole days to drink this wine, people. I got to feeling a little sorry for myself and broke down and had one glass. It was really good and now I'm feeling really good and sleepy.
Well my Valentine's Day was eventful. Maybe more so than I had planned. The plan was to order Chinese food from our favorite take-out place, eat dinner and exchange gifts. Then we were going to have some wine and dessert and have a nice romantic evening watching a classic movie. Instead, Jason came home and couldn't get into the driveway because the snow plow blocked in our driveway and he was stuck in the street.
I got bundled up and went out to help him shovel the ice and snow off of the driveway. He started at one end of the driveway and I started at the other. I hadn't been shoveling very long when my feet slipped out from under partly because of the 40 mile per hour winds. I landed with my hand still wrapped around the handle of the shovel crushing my hand. I tried to yell for help but the wind was so loud it took a few minutes to hear me, but when he did he came running over to help me up. We went inside and surveyed the damage to my hand. My finger hurt but not nearly as bad as my stomach did from all the pain. From the way my finger hurt, I knew something was WAY wrong, so we got in the car. Carefully.
We went to Urgent Care and they took an x-ray of my finger. The Dr. said it is definitely a fracture and the bone is pushing into the joint of my index finger. He gave me a splint, a prescription for Lortab, and a referral to an Orthopedic Surgeon (I have an appointment with them Tuesday at 8:45.)
By now, it was 8:45 and we hadn't even had dinner. Luckily, the Chinese food place is opened late. We called the food in and picked it up on the way home. We ate dinner and exchanged gifts as planned. I gave J the Chris Daughtry CD, some candy, a card, a Martini shaker with hearts on it and chocolate-covered fortune cookies with love messages inside. He gave me some beautiful red tulips (my favorite), a rose scented Yankee candle and a card. We had a nice night except the whole broken finger thing and four hours in the Urgent Care.
Oh yeah, I forgot. Before we went to sleep, we had dessert. Earlier in the day, I used some of that coffee flavored ice cream I have been talking about so much and made a heart shaped hot fudge sundae. It was a nice way to end the night. After that, I took a pain pill and went to bed. Next time, I don't think I'll offer to help shovel the driveway.
J was nice enough to transcribe this post for me. Guess he felt sorry for my hunt-and-peck typing. :)
No posts for a while. Valentine's Day was eventful. Scraping ice from the driveway left me all banged up. I fell on the ice and landed on my right hand. Now my rt index finger is broken. Appt w/ an orthopedic surgeon some time today or tomorrow. This really slows down my typing.

Yay! The cowboys won the Independence Bowl! :)
And in other news, yet another reason I need to keep up on getting my eyes checked... I cracked my tailbone when I bent down at work and didn't see a small wooden chair behind me. OUCH! Let me tell you, I am sitting down pretty carefully these days! NOT fun! I'm sure I'll be pretty sore for a while. It's actually pretty funny, but it sure makes me move slowly! :)
