Hello everyone! Still no internet connection at home, so I'm borrowing the office computer on my lunch break. (Something I can't make a habit of, unfortunately.) Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend and did something fun. Mr. Crafty and I grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, and brats and did a lot of organizing this weekend. That's about all that's going on with us lately. Just hanging out at the new house and enjoying living the domestic life. :) We hope to have internet connection at home by June 9th. Just wanted to pop in for a minute and tell you we're still alive and doing well.

I have 2 things to say:

1. I hate moving. (Didn't I just do this?!)
and
2. I miss blogging! Can't wait til my life gets a little less hectic so I can get back to blogging.
Just wanted you all to know I'm still alive and only half way done with moving. Looks like it will be a while before I can get back to posting on a regular basis. Thanks in advance for your patience with me when it takes forever for me to reply to your emails or add a new post. :) TTFN Gotta get back to business.

I have the best husband ever. Since we're inthe middle of moving, he and I had agreed that we weren't going to do much of anything special for our anniversary. We were just going to have a quick dinner at home, continue packing up our stuff, maybe exchange cards and that would be it. He surprised me with a dozen roses at work yesterday. Then he took me to Outback for dinner and to the casino at Charles Town. He said he wanted it to be like our wedding day. Well, Charles Town is certainly no Vegas. We lost $50.00 pretty quick, but it was such a sweet gesture on his part!

Today, however, it's back to packing. We are both so excited and anxious to get into our new house. Even though we don't have much furniture there yet, we find ourselves just wanting to hang out at the new house. Can't wait till we actually live there! :)

Good morning! I can't believe I finally have a minute to sit down and post an entry. We are in the middle of moving right now and life is chaotic. And the worst part of it is that I can't find time to post regularly. It's so bad that I have actually had to start writing things down so I won't forget to blog about them. For example, I have a list on my dresser that says "yellow flowers, missing cake, and patio decorations." What do these thing have in common? Nothing, except they are topics of blog entries that I want to remember to make. (I know, I'm weird.)

Yellow flowers...I was talking to my niece this weekend and she was really on a roll. She just talked, talked, talked for the longest time about whatever she could think of to talk about and I just loved every minute of it. She was outside on the cordless phone and she said "Know what? We have the most beeeauuuuu-tiful yellow flowers in our front yard." Of course, I said "Wow! Cool, did mom go to the store and get some flowers to plant?" Funny, my sister didn't say anything about planting new flowers. She replied, "Nope. They grew just grew here." She was talking about dandelions! Funny how the flowers most gardeners think of as weeds are seen by kids to be the most beeeauuuu-tiful flowers in the whole garden. It's all just a matter of perspective, I guess.

Missing cake...how do you know your house is a mess? When you can lose an entire store-bought angel food cake in your kitchen. I bought the stuff for strawberry shortcake and was all prepared to enjoy it after our Sunday lunch, but I couldn't find the cake. I searched all over my kitchen (which isn't actually THAT messy). Did I put it in the pantry? Nope. Was it hiding in our refrigerator? No. Was it in the bread box? Nope, wouldn't fit. That's when it hit me...I bet the cat did something with it. Sure enough, she had knocked the cake off the counter and slid it under the baker's rack. Guess kitty thought she was going to have herself a treat. Now I really know what she's up to when I'm at work. :)

Patio decorations...well, as I said, we are in the middle of moving. Mr. Crafty's truck is out of comission until later this week (needs a new tire and it won't be here until thien). So, we've had to do all of our moving with my car. (Luckily for us, my car has a huge trunk!) So we have gradually moved several boxes over to the new house and are unpacking them as we go. One of the loads we took this weekend included our holiday decorations. I needed something to do while Mr. Crafty installed the miniblinds throughout the house, so I decorated our deck with red, white and blue party lights. We may not have a bit of furniture in our new house yet, but by golly we have party lights! :) When he was done hanging the blinds, we took some lawn chairs out on the deck and watched the sunset over the mountains. We talked about how much we are going to love it in our new house and how happy we were together. It's almost our one-year wedding anniversary and since we just recently came back from Chicago (for his birthday) and purchased a house, we decided we couldn't really afford to go anywhere special. I think I've got all the "somewhere special" I need. On the deck of my new house with my very best friend.
:) Happy 1 Year Anniversary, honey! (No more moving this next year, please?!?!)

We are officially homeowners! We closed on our house yesterday. And the work begins today. Last night, we bought a ladder (for painting), a shovel, a spade, a rake, a mail box, and some mini blinds for the entire house. Today, we're buying curtains for the kitchen and living room and also taking our first car load of stuff over to the new house. This is so much fun! We have big plans for this house and can't wait to start making it feel more like home. I'll post pictures when I can. Have a great day everybody!

I cannot believe that in 5 days Mr. Crafty and I will be homeowners. We went to our house today to look again and we stayed for quite a while. We took some pictures and had some fun on the floor just sitting in the empty house and imagining where our furniture will go. I love doing that. Can you believe I have not packed a thing?! (Yes, those of you that know me are shaking your heads in agreement at this, I know.) That's OK though because we will have a month to move in.

But first, we decided we are going to paint all the rooms in the house before we move even one thing in. Well, let me rephrase that...I decided we would paint all the rooms in the house. Dear Mr. Crafty hates to paint (as I've mentioned before). But I cannot stand the flat white paint on the walls in every single room of our lovely new house. Must get some color up before I go crazy!

I decided against the very cool two-tone blue paint job I had posted a pic of previously. I think our ceilings aren't high enough in the bedroom and I didn't want to feel closed in. Instead, I have decided on a nice pale aqua shade and will use the tan bedspread that we already have. I'll have to post a pic when we're finally done with it. It's too hard to explain my idea.

Here's a very bad picture of the rugs that inspired my idea for the bedroom. This picture does not do them justice at all, but here it is. blue and tan rugs from Target.

This weekend is the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival. It's our first year to experience "The Bloom", as they call it. We've had a pretty good time so far. Yesterday, Mr. Crafty went to the stag luncheon with some friends of his and I went shopping. Then he and I met up with my friends Sonja and Chris and her parents and we watched the Fireman's Parade. It was fun but very, very VERY long! Over 3 hours of parade! I have never seen such a long parade in my life!
But we did have a good time. Plus, I got a corn dog. (A little Jason Boland for all you red-dirt fans out there..."You need a corn dog, I can tell.")

We're looking forward to the arts and crafts show (for me) and the car show (for Mr. Crafty) tomorrow.

Hope you're all having a good weekend!
